The 22nd annual Charity Gala Night & Beauty Pageant held on June 25 2011 was another highly successful evening sponsored by the Northern Territory Government and attended by Chief Minister The Honourable Paul Henderson MLA.

Highlights included musical renditions from Rachel Tolliday and Nikki Maxwell. Other surprisingly good acts were Shinta Perry, little Christopher Hallazgo, and Phil O'Brien. Rod Dingle and Lillian de los Reyes attended from Sydney for the 12th time to host the Pageant and entertain. Florida Joeng from Makasar Indonesia earned the title Miss NT Australia 2011.

Celebrities who have supported Filipino Club Darwin Inc. include HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco, Jackie Chan, John Travolta, ABS-CBN president Charro Santos-Concio, and Tina Monzon-Palma director of Bantay Bata 163. For our 22nd year good wishes received included from movie star Anne Hathaway.

Letters of support have included letters from Queen Elizabeth II, from Pope Benedict XVI, and from former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.

This fundraiser for the orphans and poor was held at the Filipino Community Center, cnr Batten Road, Marrara, Darwin, Australia, from 6 pm until late.

As usual, proceeds will be used to help orphans and poor. Donations are most most welcome.

Meetings of the Filipino Club Darwin are generally held at 3 pm on the 2nd Sunday of each month at the Nightcliff Electoral Office of the Hon Jane Aagaard MLA Speaker of the Parliament.

In this 23rd year of the Club activity, it is looking for new blood, particularly persons able to fulfill the requirements of Officer positions (particularly Secretary and Treasurer). Applications to the President are welcome.   

Filipino Club Darwin was established in September 1990 by King Roman, who was first president, and Lady Fele Mann, in order to help orphans and destitute, abused and oppressed Filipinos. Lady Fele Mann has been elected president annually since 1991. Both are listed in Who's Who in the World.
